Next WMS can be deployed very rapidly with standard functionality honed from years of experience with the most demanding customers. We have a range of standard integrations ready to go and new integrations can be developed by us or you can map to our standard APIs.

Once you are up and running, Next WMS is easily and rapidly customised to refine the workflows or add new bespoke functionality. External automation, robotics and software add ins are easily spliced into the systems workflow to optimise warehouse operations.

Customisations can be done as part of the implementation project if they are essential, or at any time later. Experience with the software will help you to decide which enhancements are really required rather than building before implementation and then realising the modifications were not as essential as you thought they were.

A Warehouse Management System (WMS) manages the physical flows of stock into, around and out of your warehouse. A WMS uses mobile computers running a mobile app to direct staff to scan items, bin locations, and pallet or tote licence plate barcodes, to ensure that every move is done accurately.

Without the limitations of paper and manual data entry, a WMS can direct users through complex physical processes to pick many orders at once and sort them to a put wall and pack and ship them with great speed and accuracy. Every move is optimised to minimise travel and effort, creating a highly productive warehouse without the frustration of errors and stock discrepancies.

Compared to a paper based warehouse, a WMS will improve productivity by 25% to 50% with investment payback periods of less than a year being common. Inventory accuracy is very high with 99% easily achievable and best in class warehouses achieving 99.9% accuracy. Service levels go up due to the improved accuracy and customers keep coming back.

Do I need a WMS?

If you are having warehouse control issues because your stock and order volume is large then you need a Warehouse Management System (WMS). ERP and inventory control systems are primarily financial management systems and do not have the physical stock management functions that a WMS does. WMS uses barcodes on stock and stock locations to ensure that items are moved around the warehouse accurately. Advanced workflows reduce distance travelled per move by coordinating many activities into one move. If you need speed and accuracy in your warehouse, then you need a WMS.

Is NextWMS right for me?

NextWMS is a highly adaptable WMS that will suit many businesses with its standard workflows. The best way to find out is to book a call to find out if we are a good fit with what you do.

If you need customisations of workflows or functionality these can usually be done quickly and at low cost without coding so you don’t create an orphaned system that locks you out of future upgrades.

How quickly can we get up and running with NextWMS?

Depending on scale and complexity, you could be up and running with NextWMS in as little as four weeks. Two to three months will be required if you need new system integrations or customisations.

We already have a WMS that came with our ERP - why do I need this?

Presumably you are reading this because the WMS you have now does not do what you need or you are looking for a more advanced WMS. This is the key issue with WMS modules of ERPs and inventory system add ons – they are very basic and do not have the advanced workflow capabilities of NextWMS.

We have an old WMS, but it's so deeply embedded in our systems that it's too hard to change. What can I do?

The downfall of many large and established organisations is old and deeply embedded legacy IT systems that are hard to use, lack modern functionality and are impossible to upgrade and too expensive to replace. Responding to customer demands is a slow bureaucratic nightmare.

Can I use it for in store fulfilment of ecommerce orders?

Yes! If you have a retail store network that you use for ecommerce fulfilment and your POS system does not do much to help, then NextWMS can be configured to provide a scan packing fulfilment process with carrier integration and shipping label printing in store. Integration with your POS system keeps your inventory in line and your order fulfilments up to date. When the in store order volume grows too big this is a life saver as it helps you get your orders out fast and accurate.

We seem to be running fine with a paper system - Why do I need a WMS?

Maybe you don’t. If your warehouse activity is low volume with a few large orders per day with no mis-picks, and you have no trouble finding stock, and your stock accuracy is 99% and your warehouse productivity is high, then well done! You don’t need a WMS.

Should I use cloud or on premises?

Most software is public cloud these days, and NextWMS is hosted on premises or private cloud. In practice there may be no discernible difference between a public cloud SaaS software and NextWMS, until you have an outage or a slowdown due to the demand from other customers on shared server . With NextWMS the system is yours and you control your data and where it is hosted and the system performance is not shared. The set up time is a little longer because your unique system must be configured and hosted on a server just for you. The total cost of ownership is about the same but the risk is lower because you control it.

IT infrastructure is not the main game here, warehouse efficiency and performance is. So that should be your focus.

Can we integrate NextWMS with our automated materials handling systems?

NextWMS is already in operation with robots and automated conveyors and storage and retrieval systems. Integration is very straightforward with the included API and integration middleware. NextWMS is future ready for any type of software, hardware or robotic automation that may come.
